Digital innovation can help policymakers apply the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic to solve some of the world’s most pressing health challenges, WelTel Health’s co-founder and scientific director Dr. Richard Lester told an international digital health symposium in Kigali, Rwanda.
In a keynote address delivered at the 2022 Health Research & Policy Symposium, Lester discussed how the digitalization of health care can help address the social and economic disparities that negatively impact health outcomes.
“In the immediate post-COVID world, we have an opportunity— and an obligation — to rapidly update our health-care systems for better patient care through technologies that support approaching the issues through an equity lens, providing digital services that reach people and build stronger connections between health providers and patients,” he said.
